Depression among people infected with HIV is on the rise in the country.
Depression among people infected with HIV is on the rise in the country. As it rises, so do new infections as the depressed do not use condoms, neither do they take their drugs which in turn leads to a rise in drug resistance. To the team from an ongoing research project dubbed INDEPTH Uganda including the Ministry of Health, there’s need to worry because almost half of the people in the country living with HIV are depressed with many needing treatment yet integration of mental health care with HIV is still very low in the country.
